I think I was around 18-19 years old and was getting ready to go out with the guys and was just about ready to leave. This is when Chris caught on to me leaving and had one of his separation attacks that he had when he was small and someone was going somewhere with out him. He had to be about 5-6 maybe even 7, he wanted so bad to go and the only thing I could think of telling him why he couldn’t was that he needed a fake I.D.
Well this started him running around the house looking for a (fink-a-dink), he though I said fink-a-dink and he told mama Jackie he needed his fink-a-dink and she looked at him sideways tiring to figure out what this was. Once they figured it out it was too late, she told him when he got big enough he could go out with me. Well while they tried to figure it out I slipped out the back door. From that day on he talked about that fink-a-dink and that he was going to get one and go with us.
I always thought of him as being younger and smaller than he really was, last time I saw him at charismas I saw the young man he was, holding his little girl and it was hard to accept how old I was getting much less him. I had a chance to make go on the promise that was made to him on Christmas, Chris asked me as I was going out the door the last time I saw him, you want to go get a beer are something. I was tiring to play hard ball with Chris and told him no, inside I wanted to go and I thought well there will be plenty of time later.
I know Chris knew how much we all loved him. I have nothing but good thoughts about Chris and hope that reading this will bring back a memory or two to share with everyone.
